Here’s how I spent last Tuesday night, enjoying the company of many of the influential people named on this year’s TIME 100 list, as well as other notables and previous honorees.

In addition to meeting Egyptian internet activist Wael Ghonim, rocker and author Patti Smith and Hollywood über-producer Brian Grazer, I also took great joy in introducing scientist and primatologist Sue Savage-Rumbaugh to fellow scientists in the room, including V.S. Ramachandran, Derrick Rossi and Felisa Wolfe-Simon.
